A Poker Prodigy: Robbi Jade Lew’s Rise in the Poker World

Despite the hours of practice and mastery of several skills and strategies, only a small percentage of gamblers make it to the biggest stages as poker games professionals. Phil Hellmuth, Stephen Chadwick, and Phil Ivey are some of the often-mentioned names when speaking of notable poker tournaments. But recently, the name Robbi Jade Lew has been all over.

Robbi Jade Lew, an Arabian-born American, has been featured on several Hustler Casino Live (HCL) episodes, World Poker Tour (WPT), Henson Mob, and other live shows. Read today’s casino news to know more about her.

Robbi Jade Lew: Mind Training Through a Strong Education

Robbi Jade Lew hasn’t been very outspoken about her background and has held back about her personal life. However, we know that she and her twin sister were born to an Arab family in December 1985. The twins were born in Saudi Arabia and spent the first 5 years of their lives there before relocating to the United States shortly after their brother was born. Robbi’s family grew up in Berkeley before moving to Orinda, CA.

Robbi studied at UC Santa Barbara and graduated with a double major in Law, Society, and Philosophy. She finished school with almost all A’s, secured a job in pharmaceutical sales, and later worked as an assistant manager at Abercrombie & Fitch.

A good education is the bedrock of Robbi’s family’s success and intellect. Her father holds several PhDs and is a Director of Physics at Lawrence Brooklyn National Lab. Her mother is a successful physician, her brother is a practicing Intellectual Property (IP) lawyer, and her twin sister is also a poker player. There’s no doubt that she’s pretty successful. But how did someone transition from that to having the best online gambling experiences by playing professional poker?

Lew’s Poker Journey

Robbi Jade Lew was watching a live poker TV event when she felt the urge to become a professional player. At the time, she was overwhelmed by her job responsibilities: travels, business meetings, and FDA rules and regulations. But watching these live poker events felt like freedom, and she needed it.

Robbi went to the local store and got a copy of the “Poker for Dummies” book, a cheat sheet that shows the best hands in poker and other newbie stuff. Thanks to her supportive lawyer husband, Charles Lew, she quickly got good at the card game without finishing the course. He taught her the basics and hosted regular indoor games during the COVID-19 pandemic. She also played Wild Texas Poker games with several high-rollers in the UK and US towards the end of the pandemic.

About a year later, she played in her first competitive poker tournament, the 2021 WSOP (World Series of Poker).

Since her WSOP debut, Robbie has been featured on several episodes of Hustler Casino Live, Henson Mob, and other live poker events. She has 4 career live WSOP cashes and has won over $10,000 in these events. She won $4,001 in July 2023 and attained a personal best of 44th in the ranking.

Controversies & Conspiracy Theories

Robbi Jade Lew was spotlighted in September 2022 during her third stream on Hustler Casino Live in the City of Angels. She was at the same table with Garrett Adelstein when she made a controversial call.

Garrett got a 7 and 8 of spades while Robbi was dealt J of club and 4 of hearts. Garrett got a straight flush draw, a better winning hand than Robbi’s. Guess what: She called Garrett’s bet and walked home with the $269,000 pot. Most poker fans wonder if she cheated or did it for fame. The viral episode helped her reach a wider audience.

Despite several interviews, the duo still sticks to their stories. Garrett feels Robbi cheated him, but the latter claims she misread the hand that made her call. It’ll be an El Clasico if the duo ever play against each other.

Conclusion

Robbie Jade Lew proves that one needs hard work and determination to play online poker in the USA. Despite recent controversies, it’s inevitable we still see her in action.
